Worse than Death (2004)

Worse than Death was M-FX's first project. We were given free rein on the design of the makeup. We therefore opted to go all out on a very stylized prosthetic approach, rather than the simpler 2D "Dawn of the Dead" style makeup which most Zombie films these days seem to default to.

This was our first (and last) attempt at making prosthetic appliances out of polyurethane cold foam. It was messy, smelly, and stuck to everything! Plus we spent hours on set blending the edges as it was virtually impossible to produce appliances with tissue-thin edges. It was a chore but a real learning experience.

Thankfully, our lessons learned, we now never leave home without foam latex, silicone and gelatine!
